Only Skin Deep by N.L Greene With Review

Only Skin Deep
N.L. Greene
Romantic Suspense

Mateo’s perfectly normal life was upended one fateful night when tragedy struck his family. After years of running the streets and fighting the temptations that would surely make him spiral out of control, he finds himself somewhere unexpected. At the gym, he isn’t a troubled kid on the streets. He’s a fighter.

Elizabeth has never known normal; she’s never known love. Born to parents who thought she was better off as an ashtray than a kid, she quickly learned that the only person she could ever trust was herself. When she was taken away from home and thrust into the system, she traded one form of torture for another.

When their paths converge, Mateo thinks he’s met the girl of his dreams, but Elizabeth’s past rears its ugly head.

Can two broken people find a way to overcome their challenges and find love in one another? Or will the skeletons in their closets tear them from each other's arms?

Review

Only Skin Deep by NL Greene

5 Stars
I received this book for an honest review.

This book follows the story of Elizabeth and Mateo. Both of them have a troubled past. However Elizabeth's past is one that is down right scary. Despite moving away and getting a new identity she still lives in fear.
Mateo was an child was used anger to deal with grief. He's a really strong character. Who wants to be Elizabeth's Protector.
It was by chance they met. Mateo asked her out a couple of times and she refused. Finally she agreed and their love story begins.
For me I loved Mateo. He was my favorite character. His character is strong, easy to like, he's naturally a protector and he's an MMA fighter.
So, there are a couple of parts that make it hard for me to believe. For instance despite the violet past and looking over her shoulder, she never carried anything to protect herself. Maybe this was because violence scared her. Although it didn't ruin the story for me. I just wanted her to be stronger.

Overall I enjoyed this book. I rated it 5 ⭐️. The story is strong, you get your Hea, and they characters are certainly likable. It definitely has a hero.

this book deals with sex, abuse, torture, rape(no description), and some mental issues. The rape and torture isn't very descriptive but it's there. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone under 18.
