The Beltane Escape by Ariella Moon WITH Review

The Beltane Escape by Ariella Moon
(The Two Realms Trilogy, #1)
Publication date: February 2016
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult

Synopsis:
Lady Fenella, ever surrounded by guards, knows only responsibility and duty. She believes Merlin and the Lady of the Lake are myths, Gran’s warnings about Fairy are superstition, and Fairy was invented to make children behave.

But then Gran brands her, Lord Argonshire kidnaps her, and the Lady of the Lake makes her a pawn. The Highland heiress must betray her newly betrothed and fend for herself when she dives into a wormhole to save her cousin. She lands in a part of Fairy even fairies avoid, and joins forces with Talfryn, a half-Viking/half-Fairy.

Fenella must use her wits to find her cousin, free the Lady of the Lake, and reach the wormhole in Glastonbury by Beltane. Nine days to unshackle herself from a sorceress, prevent a war between rival clans, and decide in which realm—and with which lad—she truly belongs. Oh, and The Most Powerful Wizard stands in her way.

REVIEW 1
4 Stars

I was given a book in exchange for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

Lady Fenella does not believe in myths or fairies.  She believes these to be stories and superstitions.  It is not long in her adventure that her beliefs are shattered.  In order to save her cousin, She finds herself in a shady part of the fairy world.  She finds a strength she didn't know she had.  She finds partners in people she never would have expected.  None of this was part of her plan.  She could never have imagined such an incredible journey.

It is always fun to put a character in impossible situations.  Put her up against and teaming with people/creatures that if you had asked her a week before, she would have sworn they did not exist. I think the author must have had fun creating such interesting mishaps and obstacles for Lady Fenella to overcome.   The pacing is good.   The book was very entertaining. I will definitely read the next book in this series.

4.5 stars

This book was very good.  I like books of fairies, wizards and humans all in one.

This is a great story told very well.  The author brings the characters and events to life.  (Spoiler Alert - Even Merlin makes an appearance.)  The main female character is of noble blood.  She is to be wed to an Earl's son.  She somehow steps into another world.  If she cannot make it back to her world by the end of the Beltane festivities, she never will.

This book is full of traitors, love, determination, frustration, and achievements.  I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes tales of old European nobles, meeting the people of lore and of the achievements of both.
