Title: Cross the Stars
Series: Crossing Stars Duet #1
Author: Venessa Kimball writing as V. Angelika
Genre: New Adult/Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 8, 2016
A year shy of graduating from Georgetown University, Ella Wallace feels like she is losing direction. Having carved her own path through life, rejecting her family’s elitist influences, the last thing she wants is to waste time and prove her parents right. A happenstance summer-long program abroad offers the perfect opportunity to immerse herself in volunteer work, finding richness in family and purpose she has never experienced before.
Prince Rajaa bin Ammaar is returning home to Jordan from Georgetown University. His intent is to spearhead a refugee program meant to bring peace to his country. Amidst threats of civil war and revolt, Raj stands for his convictions, even when they challenge his family and the very culture he is preordained to uphold.
A chance encounter at a crowded party in D.C. brought Ella and Raj together for one fleeting moment – two people never thought to meet again. But it’s not until their diverse worlds collide in Jordan that they realize the power of their connection. With the refugee program as their reuniting bond, they must cross the stars and defy their clashing cultures to protect their forbidden love.
With the culturally rich Jordanian backdrop, Cross the Stars will take you on a journey into the geographical and cultural Middle East, the resilience of people amidst turbulent civil unrest, the parallel unrest of two lovers’ clashing fates, and the diversity they must challenge with every breath to keep their love alive.

This book by Venessa was amazing as usual! I have read all her books and loved each one. Cross the Stars is NOT, and I stress this, like her YA reads. She has mature content in this book. I feel like she is growing as an author, not because this is a NA read, but because of how her writing has improved and how much research has gone into this book.

What makes this book a 5 star read? What would you Cross the Stars for? The heroine in this book is lost and needs sense of direction so she travels to Jordan from the US on a teaching abroad program. I feel like she finds herself in this program, not because she finds her true love but the woman finds who she is and who she is striving to become as an adult. The heroine happens to fall in love with a man who is promised to another woman in Jordan (isn't that always the case?). What is she willing to fight for? The children at the teach abroad program? The man who she loves?

Cross the Stars takes you on a journey of love, loss and forgiveness. The saying in the book is "What are you willing to Cross the Stars and Steal the Moon for?" Right now I don't know that I could answer that question. It is something that everyone needs to take some time and think about.

Again this is a great book and can not wait for book two Steal the Moon!!

4.5 Stars

"Always do something with purpose, Ella Marie. Something greater than yourself. Risk for love, risk for life. Cross the stars and steal the moon if you have to"

I really enjoyed this book. I instantly liked and related to the characters. The story got deeper with each chapter and I loved this. I experienced many emotions while reading this as happiness, hopefulness, sadness, and contentment.

Ella, is a sweet girl. She misses her grandmother very much and has managed to keep her alive in her mind by remembering all of the beautiful quotes she used to tell her. With a barely there sister relationship with Natalie, Ella has to find that balance between her life and the life her parents want for her. Then comes the offer..... What will she do? What should she do?

This is the first book I've read by this author. I am impressed by her smooth and fast paced writing. Her humor is just perfectly done in this book. I want to read more by her very soon.
